At the turn of the century, I brought together a collection of local Jacksonville underground Goth, Industrial, Experimental, and Noise artists for MOVEMENT Magazine’s first compilation, INNERCIRCUIT, and launched the FREQUENCIES label to release it.

From there, I began signing and supporting individual artists through the label, using my background in photography, graphic design, and marketing, along with strong connections to local recording studios and venues, to help them produce high-quality recordings, distinctive packaging, custom merchandise, and book live shows. Their indie releases were distributed through local record stores, online platforms, and DJ networks. As this was a side project to the magazine built to support locals, the label would recoup costs, and all profits remained with the artists, allowing them to reinvest directly into their work.

Over the label’s lifetime, it supported seven artists, recording under 10 different projects and releasing 23 albums, EPs, and compilations: Abstract Alchemy/Decaying Silence, Azra, Batsauce/Spooney, ELARA, Leftoversound, Man-Sized Rat/The Skraelings, and S.R.I. made up the FREQUENCIES family. It was an unforgettable experience working with such a diverse group of creators during such a pivotal time at the dawn of digital distribution and social media.

All of these artists have since moved on to other projects or other paths in life, and MOVEMENT Magazine continues, in every way possible, to support the local music, arts, and culture scene in Jax.
